As the sound of winter has already arrived, with the arrival of winter we get invitations for many events. Children get holidays from school and along with this there are many family gatherings. The sound of family events and wedding invitations is being heard, winter is full of excitement but it also brings with it a very big issue.
The biggest problem of winter is skin problem as we all know that skin is the largest organ of our body. Keeping your body maintained and fresh in this cold season of winter is a very challenging task.
In winter, our skin is more damaged than normal. Following skin care routine becomes more important than normal in this season.
Here are some steps that you need to follow to take care of your skin in winters, which have been shared with you.
Avoid Hot Showers to Protect your Skin:
Taking frequent hot showers and baths can make your skin dry, itchy, and prone to rashes. They also can disrupt the skin’s natural balance of moisture, robbing you of the natural oils, fats, and proteins that keep skin healthy. Dry skin can increase your chances of infection.
Shower with Normal Water for Skin Care in Winter:
Instead of taking showers with very hot water, it is better to use normal water for showers which will be beneficial for your skin.
There are many benefits of drinking water with normal water, such as it increases blood circulation. This temporarily increases metabolism.
Decrease your Bath Time:
Spending less time in the tab not only benefits your skin but you will decrease the amount of water wasted to step out of the tab before your skin appears wrinkled. Depending on factors such as your daily activity level profession or season you might even be able to skip a full daily shower.
Skin just like the rest of the body needs water to function properly. experts believe a shower should only last about 5 to 10 minutes. Bathing with hot water for too long destroys the natural oils on the skin.
Avoid Harsh Soaps:
During the winter season, we need to change our soap too. We should not use soap with too much detergent. Soaps that are too harsh and contain chemicals remove the natural oil from our skin and fill it with chemicals. Due to this our skin becomes dry and dull. Therefore, instead of overly harsh and chemical-based soaps, we should look for normal and moisturizing soaps for winter.
Moisturize your Skin:
To keep your skin fresh in winter, massage with unscented lotion cream or oil. Also consider a product that contains ceramides. Ceramides help protect and retain the needed moisture for your skin. For most people, light water-based moisturizer is adequate.
Protect your Skin:
Protect your skin because in winter there is a great need to protect your skin from cold air and rain. Whenever you come out of the house, use gloves, caps, hats and a jersey.
Stay Hydrated:
You should go out of the house or stay inside the house. In winter you mostly have to face dry air, hence you need to keep your skin hydrated. You can take hot water steam or also install a humidifier to manage the moisture level in your home. This will certainly keep your skin happy and healthy.
Choose Skin Care Products Wisely:
The key to healthy and glowing winter skin is using mild skin care products and choosing cleanser that contains moisturizers to avoid stripping your skin of its natural moisture barrier.
If you have acne or breakouts use such products that contain the ceramides, hyaluronic acid, hydration serums and glycerine to help in repairing the moisture barrier of your skin.
Avoid using such products that contain alcohol as they make your skin dry during the winters and also avoid masks and peels.
Choose a sunscreen that has Titanium dioxide or zinc oxide.
Do not Exfoliate the Skin:
Exfoliating your skin once a week is fine; this helps in boosting skin regeneration and better product absorption. But in winter you have to be careful about it because your skin barrier is already compromised due to the dry and cold weather. If you have dry skin then exfoliate your skin lightly but if you have a combination and oily skin then once a week is fine.
Exfoliating removes dead skin cells which helps you get glowing skin but too much exfoliating in winters your skin can harm your skin very badly.
Hand and Foot Care
Moisturizer seems to get exhausted from our hands very quickly so whenever it comes out in the winter, apply moisturizer on your hands all day long to avoid dryness and itchiness. Choose glycerine best serums, creams, and petroleum jelly to moisturize your feet and hands also make sure you exfoliate the skin on your feet so that it can absorb the moisturizer easily.
Facial Care:
Here are some very basic and simple skin care steps that can anyone follow very easily during the winter. After washing your face in the morning apply a light daily moisturizer to lock the moisturizer and at the night time use heavy moisturizer or overnight cream. Cleans your skin once or twice a day preferably in the morning and before going to bed.
Apply the cream on damp skin as just washed skin absorbs moisture better. This is one of the best tips for dry skin.
Take Healthy Diet:
To keep your skin fresh and healthy in cold weather, take care of your diet also. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables that are readily available in season. Use smoothies, salad juices and milk so that your skin remains hydrated. Consume a lot of seasonal fruits, vegetables, and juices.
